A Partnership to Stimulate Forest Economy Through Biocoal Production

Rouyn-Noranda, March 27, 2013 – FPInnovations and the Centre technologique des résidus industriels (CTRI) have announced a joint research project relating to the production of biocoal from forest biomass—a raw material usually left on cutovers. This $1.8-million, 3-year project is being funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), Natural Resources Canada, the Consortium de recherche et innovations en bioprocédés industriels au Québec – CRIBIQ ( a Québec consortium for research and innovations in industrial bioprocesses), Airex Energy and Resolute Forest Products.

Laval, February 18, 2013 – LAVAL TECHNOPOLE and Airex Energy are pleased to announce that the latter has received $2.7 million in financial support for the construction of a biomass torrefaction demonstration plant, to be completed by the end of 2013. The public announcement concerning this initiative took place at a press conference held at the Montréal Science Centre.

Airex Energy to attend World Bioenergy 2012 in Jönköping, Sweden

Airex Energy will be at World Bioenergy 2012 on May 29-31 in Jönköping, Sweden to promote its patented torrefaction technology. The company will participate in the “Speaker’s Corner”, a business to business session being held by Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade at their pavilion in the Exhibition hall. Sylvain Bertrand, Vice President of Corporate Development for Airex Energy, will deliver a ten-minute presentation at 11:00 each day, after which he will be available for one-on-one meetings.
